At the age of 21 Abbie Hughes set up her own event yard, based in East Devon, Abbie Hughes has had lots of success as an eventer and has worked hard training and improving in all the equestrian disciplines having lessons from numerous rider trainers these include the talented dressage trainer Claire Moir.

At the age of 21, Abbie is already running her own yard at Luppitt, near Honiton, East Devon, with 13 horses including both experienced and novice horses. Having been selected along with 25 other riders from the South West, Abbie is now taking part in monthly lessons with dressage trainer Claire Moir. The South West regional foundation squad encompasses Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and is one of five regional squads being launched across England.

Although Abbie has been selected for the dressage discipline on the squad, she is also making her name on the eventing circuit and won her first event of the season at Moreton on Sunday.

Keen to make improvements wherever possible, Abbie also went to work with point-to-point rider Polly Gundry. "I had a brilliant time working two days a week throughout the winter for Polly. It was great fun and I`d definitely do it again next year."
